Coach Bryan Smothers’ Story:
In this episode, you'll hear from Coach Bryan Smothers. Bryan is currently an assistant Coach for Greg Paulus at Niagara University. Bryan was a standout player for Coach David Greer at Wayne State (an excellent D2 in Detroit). After Coach Greer gave Bryan his start in coaching, Bryan spent five years at Michigan in multiple support staff roles. As you will find out, Bryan learned so much from Coach John Beilein and his staff. While at Michigan Bryan remained patient and continued to grow. Bryan shares an interesting perspective for how young coaches can grow in non-coaching roles. When Bryan did receive his opportunity at Niagara, Bryan was ready to make an impact for Coach Paulus and his players at Niagara. Bryan is a young coach with an old soul!! Old school thoughts like: telling the truth, being genuine, and looking through a different lens. Old school, No! Just a coach who is humble, professional, and following the lead of tremendous mentors! A coach who is coaching for all the right reasons.
