Coach Keno Davis’ Story:
In this episode, you’ll hear from Keno Davis. Coach Davis was the 2008 National Coach of the Year. As a matter of fact, Keno and his dad, Dr. Tom Davis have both been National Coach of the Year winners. Dr. Davis won the award in 1987. Keno has been a Head Coach for 13 Seasons. He has been at Drake, Providence, and Central Michigan. As you will find out, Keno has been around coaching since he was an infant. As a matter of fact, Keno shares a great story of when he was seven years old and his Dad won a game to get to the Elite 8 at Boston College, the players were bouncing a young Keno Davis in the locker room. Actually, Keno does an amazing job of connecting his philosophy to the what he learned from his father. Whether it is playing fast, playing the diamond press, playing the 3-2 zone, or how Coach Davis approaches his substitutions pattern during a game - Dad had a major influence on son. For all coaches, the insights that Keno shares on how his dad subbed his players in and out of the game is truly fascinating and so special that Keno shared today.
