Coach Angres Thorpe’s Story:
In this episode, you’ll hear from Angres Thorpe. Coach Thorpe is currently an assistant coach for Coach Jim Whitesell at the University at Buffalo. Yes, that Buffalo that was 20 minutes away from the NCAA Tournament and is one of the most elite mid-major college basketball programs in the country! Everyone in the MAC and, for sure, in his home city of Chicago knows Coach Thorpe as "AT". Coach AT has a wealth of experience: stops at Buffalo, UMKC, Toledo, Green Bay, Saint Louis, Ball State, and Lewis. Actually, Coach AT started his coaching career with Coach Whitesell at Lewis. As you soon will hear, Coach AT and Coach Whitesell have an incredible partnership built on massive mutual RESPECT. Last season, due to COVID reasons, Coach AT had the opportunity to be an Interim Head Coach at Buffalo and lead the Bulls to a MAC win. This veteran assistant coach was so humble in detailing that night in Oxford, Ohio. Coach AT is the epitome of an assistant coach. Everything is about the bosses that he works for and the players he coaches. The amount of tips and real-life coaching experiences and examples that he shares in this episode is essentially who Coach AT is--a coach serving others. If for some reason you don’t know Coach AT, you will for sure know now. When Coach AT helped Buffalo get a win last season, I felt like I won.
